Driver Mode

Broadcast your live GPS position while driving a transit route. Passengers see your vehicle on the map in real time — no special hardware needed, just a browser.

How to start a shift

  1. 1Open the driver page and select your route.
  2. 2Choose the direction (outbound or inbound).
  3. 3Tap 'Start Shift' — your browser begins sharing your location.
  4. 4Drive your route. Tap 'End Shift' when finished.
No app needed
Works in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or car touchscreen. The screen stays on during your shift automatically.
Stop announcements
Automatic text-to-speech announces upcoming stops as you approach them. Helps passengers and drivers alike.
Visible to passengers
Your vehicle appears on the public map alongside official transit feeds. Passengers see estimated arrival times at each stop.
Live route overview
Toggle a route ladder inside the driver screen: both directions side by side, every vehicle on the line, arrival times per direction, your own bus highlighted — headway to the bus ahead and behind at a glance.
Ticket scanning in the shift
Open the ticket scanner right inside the driver screen to validate passengers' QR tickets — the shift keeps running. Works offline, and refuses a ticket it has already seen on the device.
Waiting passengers
As you approach a stop, the screen shows how many passengers have marked themselves waiting for your line there.
Shift records
All shifts are recorded with start/end times and route details. Useful for audit trails and payroll.

Requirements

Web of Trust level 3+ is required to broadcast as a driver. This ensures only trusted community members can appear as official transit vehicles on the map.
